Put the aftersun in the fridge. Get a cool shower. Continue to apply chilled aftersun allllll day (your skin will drink it up) & take an anti inflammatory. Hope you feel better

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/06/2013 07:12

Thank you. I have just gone to get some more paracetamol and I could hardly walk down the stairs Sad

Any aftersun lotion with green tea in it is great.

RoooneyMara · 09/06/2013 07:53

if it is very bad then go to minor injuries. you may need rehydration/dressings etc x

Get some aloe vera gel. Far better than after sun. Don't put anything with moisturuser on as it locks in the heat.

BTW, I'm in the same boat. Annual being a dick and forgetting I'm practically a vampire! Slathering on aloe vera whenever it goes sore

Imnotaslimjim · 09/06/2013 08:16

Get in a cold bath. It may be sunburn, but its still a burn and you need to get the heat out of it

As Rooney said, if its very bad, go and get it seen to. They can apply soothing burns dressings.

NannyR · 09/06/2013 08:39

Ibuprofen would be better than paracetamol as it reduces inflammation.

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/06/2013 10:24

Thank you.

I can hardly walk at the moment and standing up even is very painful so I am lying in bed Sad

I have an Aloe Vera gel, would that work? The After sun I am using is just one from Nivea and I have a wet flannel over my legs.

The paracetamol is working but I will buy some ibuprofen when I go out in a little bit.

Def try the aloe vera. It will really take the sting out for a while.

mouldyironingboard · 09/06/2013 10:38

Try a wet towel rather than flannel as it will cover a larger area and stay wet longer.

You may feel a bit shivery, despite being burnt which is normal.

Montybojangles · 09/06/2013 15:12

Are you drinking plenty? You can easily become dehydrated. Ibuprofen and paracetamol, cool showers and plenty of emollient.

Rosa · 09/06/2013 15:14

agree with aloe vera gel ...the after suns don't really let your skin breathe.

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/06/2013 15:32

I am at my mums for lunch so I can't have a cold shower yet. I have taken Morrisons own brand ibuprofen and have brought my Aloe Vera gel.

My sister commented on my Facebook status telling me I should have a hot shower as it will take away the sting, that's not right surely?

I think you need proper medical advice tbh - ring the OOH maybe? It is hard to judge how bad it is from your posts.

I don't want you to end up with infection or scarring etc
not sure if that's even possible, but please consult someone medically trained x

meditrina · 09/06/2013 16:59

No, don't have a hot shower, it'll make things worse. A tepid bath would be better.

And aloe vera, perhaps with a few drops lavender oil, may help. Especially if you keep the aloe vera in the fridge between applications.

CPtart · 09/06/2013 17:14

Bags of frozen peas wrapped in tea towels-you need to take the heat out of the skin.

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 09/06/2013 19:10

I am not sure if it is because of the ibuprofen or not but it seems to be easing off now. It just looks really red now and too sore when stood up.

Thank you all for you advice.
