Sorry no help - but I read the title as 'dd's head was glued on, on sunday!' :o

Missed this totally misdee Shock
I'd ring NHS Direct, I am sure they can tell you. My dad had his face glued for my wedding (long story) and was able to wash, shower etc.
If you can't be bothered to ring NHS Direct I have to be honest and say I'd wash her hair, but first put a plaster over the cut...

DS2 did this in the same place last Wednesday, we were told five days, and washed his hair on Monday. So it should probably be tomorrow for your DD3, but to be honest even after washing his hair the glue is still firmly in place so i'd think you would be fine!

bundle · 25/05/2006 18:42

i think you'd be fine too, the head has such a good blood supply i bet it's healed by now.

misdee · 25/05/2006 18:42

at the hospital they said not to wash her with shampoo for a week, i have been really careful and not got it wet at all (very hard work with amessy eating 1yr old), and the daily wipe over her hair with a damp flannel isnt doing any wonders tonight.

i wont be able to get a plaster on it, its right on her hairline and she has tons of hair. the scab looks pretty healed and 'dry'.

how old is dd3 misdee?

chapsmum · 25/05/2006 18:58

actually to be honest it doesn really matter.
The younger they are the quicker the wound heals. If you can keep it as dry as possible and if it does get wet make sure you pat it dry do not let it soak. Do not brush hair round the patch, and also do not let her hair lay damp. Oh an do not point the hair dryer (if you use on) directly onto the cglue.
It is fine for it to get splashed.
and of course use a mild shampoo.
Wouldnt expect the gule to fall off for at least 14 days and if you have anyproblems getting rid of it give me a wee shout.

chapman, have shampooed her but did it with as little water as possible. asnyway, the skin around the cut is very flakey, looks like cradlecap, is this the dried glue?

OP posts:
chapsmum · 25/05/2006 19:53

could be, could just be the skins natural healing responce to the cut, I expect it will all come away to be shiny and pink and new eventually,
was reading what happened the other day sound like you had a shit time!
