After research have seen your names posted on this subject.
My Ds (10)has just been diagnosed with this and has had antibiotics/creams,slowly clearing.I have been trying to find out more about it but coming up short really!
How are you all getting on? Have any of you used Aveeno?(keeps cropping up)Smile

Hi belleofball - I was prev Luckymum & Potty1 Smile

Dd developed discoid excema at 9 years alongside molloscum contagiosum. It's been a bit of a pain but we have now got on top of it. After lots of trial and error we finally found that Balneum in the bath, hydrocortisone on the flare-ups and Aveeno as a moisturiser suited her. We also had to use Fucidin and oral anti-bs too as she often got it infected.....and Clarytin seemed to help when it was really itchy at night.

I believe that it is known as a difficult type of excema to sort out.

What are you currently using and have you any idea what started it off?

HELLO SMBK. Excellent name! Sorry for delay.
This is horrible isnt it, and really distressing for the children!
Ds Had a tiny graze under his football shinpad,we thought it was from a label. It got bigger & bigger really nasty, spread over his body in patches. Took ages to get the diagnoses right(which i think happens in most cases?).He has just been discharged from clinic visits With Fucidin,Dyprobase cream and hydrex bath scrub.
His body is virtually clear now but his shins are v.persistent!

It was the ones on the tops of dd's legs that were most difficult to shift and a little patch on the back of her arm. If this one flares it seems to be an indication that she will either suffer from a general flare up or is unwell in another way.

The original diagnosis often seems to be ringworm as it's quite similar in appearance at first.

Did you have any trouble at school? My ds teacher has said she wants to see him in PE shorts know (he has been wearing trackies to cover legs)but ds doesn't want to because his legs are quite bad and has already had nasty comments when changing his top.Sad
I don't know if i should try to encourage him to brave it,especially as the summers coming or protect him.

Sorry i was wrong.he is using fucibet at mo,to try to get the last bit gone quicker, but he keeps getting more patches on his arms now! It's so frustrating because you just think it's going and then they get another flare up!
He was nearly in tears this morning because it is hot and he wanted to wear shorts but wont as he said his legs look revoltingSad.It doesn't matter what i say,i think they just look like he has lots of bruising and grazes.(Good footballers legs) didnt cut itGrin.

Sorry, been away on hols Smile

No magic answers Belle, just hydrocortisone for us Sad

Discoid excema can get infected easier i was told. Do you take them swimming? Ds is missing all the swimming lessons at school as the doctor said it wouldn't be a good idea. But i feel that i can't let it get in the way of everything.
