I remember the dr saying to me, as I was waiting to go into surgery that he was taking both ovaries, tubes and uterus. I maybe just presumed that he was leaving it.
I getting a gynae referal, I'll ask them then
I still think I'm right

Have a feel. I'm intriged now.

You should have some paperwork from hospital that will confirm subtotal vs total. I disagree that subtotal are very rare. Also, what was the reason for having it?

Was it done through a cut on your abdomen (like a c section scar?)?

Tip of your nose? Jeepers my nose is huge.

Pop round. I'l have a feel.

That sounds so wrong. Sorry.

VinegarDrinker · 21/05/2013 20:56

The cervix is part of the uterus so from your latest post I'd say it sounds more like a total. They should have really told you though as you need to know whether you need smears or not.

Nagoo · 21/05/2013 20:56

I thought the cervix was the neck of the womb.....

Cocolepew - ask the GP to read their copy of the histology report in your hysterectomy. It should have been sent to histopathology for analysis. The macroscopic and microscopic sections of the report should state whether cervix was present. If they havent got a copy of the report then they can ring the histology department for a copy.

The top of the vagina where it meets the cervix (or where it used to be!) can be notoriously difficult to see cervical remnants post hysterectomy.

Did the GP have any idea what is causing the bleeding?

Nagoo · 21/05/2013 21:02

Well, that google was de-sensitising. Grin

TheHerringScreams · 21/05/2013 21:02

Nagoo I've seen you do that on another thread. Have you been dared or do you just like making me people vomit?!

And I always fall for it. Hmm

BelaLug0si · 21/05/2013 21:03

Sorry just read you're getting a gynae referral, good news.

Nagoo · 21/05/2013 21:05

It was left on my C&P clipboard.
I do like a bit of TWC Grin

TheHerringScreams · 21/05/2013 21:05

Cocolepew first of all, they should have told you and made sure you knew everything before a hysterectomy, they're so confusing! In the report there should be included whether there was the cervix but it sounds like a total possibly (but the report, histology, should tell all).

cocolepew · 21/05/2013 21:06

Looks like either polyps or imflammation around where I was stitched, plus probably vaginal atrophy.

Oh joy.
