H Pylori and seem to be allergic to all the treatments.

Silly specialist was testing for other stuff and H Pylori came up, so he just posted a script for Losec 7 day triple stuff to me - I'm allergic to Amoxycillin.

The pharmacist ran me through the alternatives and they are all things I have reacted to in the past.

Specialist not at work until Tuesday - Asking about drug allergies seems like such a basic thing before prescribing.

Specialists receptionist and wife has left a message to get my GP to prescribe something suitable. Fine except that it $45 to go to the GP - and it was the specialist who should have been onto it.

Will check with my MIL because she had this and couldn't take the antibiotics (nor did she want to take the 4 different lots they were prescribing her!). So she cured it with a natural remedy which I am desperately trying to remember as I'm typing!! It was either Manuka Honey or Mastika Gum - will ask her for you. Whichever it was it worked for her and it completely got rid of it without all those nasty side effects.

Manuka honey wouldn't be a problem as I live in NZ - would probably be cheaper than the prescription! I can take the Losec component - it's just the other two bits.

It seems funny also that as I have gastritis and lactose intolerance that giving me antibiotics (which will give me gastritris) is the way forward!

I'm fairly sure it was the honey because she was complaining about the taste at the time I seem to remember . Was a few years ago mind, have lost a LOT more brain cells since then.

Polgara has beat me to it! i was going to suggest both mastic gum and manuka honey.

Mastic gum not only kills the H.Pylori, but also heals the stomach lining, thus making re-infection less likely.WE've had several customers (in our health shop) who have found it great. Also it was no known side-effects. check out \link{http://mastika.com\mastika.com}

I would also use the manuka honey too. Get one that says active 10+, or higher. it must say "active" on the label...sound be a problem in NZ
take a spoonful 4 times a day. keep taking it for a while afterwards too.

Anyway "mastika" is the brand i would get.

There are some ongoing studies at the moment using light to treat h.pylori.

It is probably still at the clinical trial stage but might be worth looking into.

I saw something about light and Auckland University - shame I live in Chch. I will ask Dr about it, as I might make a suitable trial candidate with being allergic to all the antibiotics and being symptomatic.

I feel let down by the consultant, because the first thing I said to him was - "I keep going to Drs who test me, find something and then treat it and then ignore me when my symptoms don't do away." Passing me on to GP at the first sign of difficulty - well doesn't he think I've tried (several)GPs.

It was the Mastika!! Asked her tonight, she said the honey's good as well but it was the mastika that eradicated her pylori. Good luck!

I am seeing GP today, I will see what he suggests and then probably have to go for the mastika because I have googled the antibiotics for pylori and they are all ones I can't have.

Quick update - GP is repeating the test, wants to make sure as it will be a tough one with the very limited range of antibiotics I can take.

Asked at health food shop and can't get mastic stuff here.
