I have had a problem with walking, using my left hand/arm since august last year. I am also in a lot of pain and on numerous pain medications. I have had 3 MRI scans which all show 2 bulging discs at c5/c6 and c7/t1 but they aren't bad enough to be operate on.
It also shows behind them that there is a white mark on the MRI's which the consultant said was high signal intensity.
However he doesn't know what it is or what caused it and doesn't seem that interested in doing much to find out.
I saw them yesterday and he mentioned fibromyalgia but looking at the nhs site I don't meet the criteria for that as its all one sided pain and I don't have pain at 11 out of the 18 tender points.
I have also got hyperreflexia when they test the reflexes. this is particularly pronounced in my left leg.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the could be?
I am also going to go back to my GP and ask for a referral somewhere else. can anyone recommend a particular neurologist/neurosurgeon.
