dermatofibroma

Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but am looking for advice re 2 dermatofibromas i have on my shins.
1 is puckered, raised and scabby, never bleeds though and a dermatologist saw it and said ok to leave. The other is sunken into the skin of my shin and only puckered.
Have been told they often appear in the site of a trauma/insect bite etc and usually only on lower leg. Only way to get rid of them is to excise them under local anaestetic, but may leave a scar.
Has anyone had any experiences of them or especially found ways to reduce/remove them non-surgically?
I know they're not serious as such and run a microscopic risk of turning into cancer cells, but they make my shins look like shit and I can't conceal them in Summer.

Hadn't realised that trying to use wart remover may increase their size though...

I think the scar would be less obvious than the dermafibroma. Scars fade with time. My knees are covered with scars from childhood falls and this never stops me wearing shorts etc but I think I would be much more self-conscious if I had dermafibromas on them. Scars are commonplace; dermafibromas aren't. This logic induced me to have one removed from my leg last week. I haven't had the stitches out yet though so may change my mind when I see the scar .
