Is there a neurologist in the house?

I wonder if you can reassure my friend, or give her an idea of what this might be?

A few weeks ago she noticed a diagonal dent in her forehead, about 2 inches long. It has been getting longer, and she has been having painful headaches in that area.

She went o a neurologist today, who said he'd never seen anything like it, has no idea what it might be, and booked her in for a CT scan in a month.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Fracture maybe? Mis joined fontanelle starting to aggravate?

It's probably morphea, a form of localised skin thickening (aka focal linear scleroderma). She should see a dermatologist, rather than a neurologist.

Heebie, she has also has some significant problems with wisdom teeth, growing from entirely the worng place (roof of mouth). Might this be related?

I don't think so. It's a random thing. But but but. I haven't even seen a photo (not that I want you to post one) so please just ask her to see a dermatologist who can properly advise.

Are you sure it's dermatology though? Is it unrelated to her headaches etc, do you think?

The skull doesn't shrink, so progressive dent v likely to be soft tissue/skin/scalp. Dermatology, definitely. Headaches likely due to tension in the scalp muscles +/- stress of having a head dent.

google langerhans cell histiocytosis specifically skull. Its out there, extremely rare, but someone I know has it, sorry, may be massively wrong, and don't want to scare you, but this is how my friend was eventually diagnosed.
