Should I go see GP?

Started with slight neuralgic pain on one side of my head yesterday morning. Put it down to having slept in ds's bed all night. Howver in the evening I got stabbing pains in the ear which seemed to be accompanied with me feeling like I'm drunk. Warmth temporarily makes it better but only as long as it's applied.
This morning, stiff neck and still ear ache.

A case for the doc or just a draught I caught?
Tx

You might have an ear infection which could explain the drunk feeling. I would make an appointment to have it checked out,you don't want it to affect your balance.

Thanks heavenis was leaning towards appointment anyhow as now I have puffy feeling on side of my face ... ah lovely.

Probably just down to being totally run down due to sleepless nights in ds's kiddies bed :) Might at the same time ask whether the GP has a 'mallett' to put ds to sleep Grin

I just thought you haven't got an abcess on a tooth have you ?

NotAnOtter · 15/05/2006 10:28

I have just had on and off what you describe which ended in big time dentistry Sad I went to doctors first who said it was ear infection but it was not!!! Sorry but get it seen to mine went terrible very suddenly and i had to call emergency dentist on a sunday Shock good luck

MrsBigD · 15/05/2006 10:42

no abscess on the tooth as I've just had a checkup with x-rays. I had to see the hygienist prior to some work (crowns) that need doing on the side that doesn't hurt atm to 'scrape off all the debris' iykwim... that was on Thursday... twinges started Saturday. Could it be related? If so then I'll never again set foot in there!!! I'm a whimp when it comes to teeth anyhow

It could be that when they did your teeth on thursday it has disturbed something. See the doctor first.

been to the doctor and defo no ear infection. Though I nearly screamed when she put that ear thingy into my ear to have a look. All looks very healthy not even was build up! Then she pushed the front flappy bit of the ear (ya can tell I have no idea about terminology) sort of towards the ear opening and I nearly fainted... not that there was heaps of pain but I just got woozy, cold sweat and nearly blacked out! She got really worried and wanted me to lie down. Doesn't help I guess that I've got low blood pressure :)

So she's guessing neuralgia of the tri-something nerve. Remedial action? painkillers... oh great... that's what doctors seem to prescribe for nearly everything nowadays ... argh

Oh and she told me to take it easy... erhem... 2 small kids, a husband, 2 hamsters and work... work being the least evil hence not staying at home LOL

Still sounds like it might be something the dentist might have done. Hope you feel better soon.

MrsBigD · 15/05/2006 11:10

thanks havenis... gp said if it isn't better in 2 weeks to go back. I hope it will get better before then!!!
