Anyone suffered from Labrynthitis?

I have had this for a couple of weeks now and it's really getting me down. Thought I was getting over it then did too much yesterday and set myself back.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and any tips on things that made you feel better?

I have this atm and I'm also totally fed up with it. I have two dc's, youngest 3. Doc gave me cinnarizine which I try not to rely on as it makes me so tired. However, just went the whole day without it and felt awful so I don't know which is worse.

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed with normal conversation or things coming too close to you eg your child shoving a toy or picture in front of you for admiration? Hmm

Ooh, I've had this. Twice. What I found alarming was the sudden onset; one minute you're fine, the next bouncing off the walls and vomiting. Fortunately the first time lasted only 36 hours, though the second was two weeks. I was given anti-nasusea tabs, the same used for those undergoing chemo. Sorry, I can't remember the name.

My heartfelt sympathy, blether, and hope you get better soon.

Echt I agree. I've had it three times over the last few years, just three weeks ago was last bout. I was fine and then woke up at 11.30pm with a sweat on and just threw up as the room was spinning violently. I take buccastem tablets which are prochlorperazine but absorb through your gums. I had tablets left from last time but couldn't keep them down.
Have been very stressed and busy lately and keep coming down with coughs, colds, mouth ulcers and so on. Could it be related?

babanouche · 15/04/2013 00:01

teddymummy, I've been doing some reading on this and I think yes, they could be related. I found a forum for long term sufferers and a common theme was recurrence when stressed, not eating properly, coughs cold etc.

website's called sharp blue if anyone's interested. Some really interesting reading about the potential underlying causes.

Thanks everyone for your responses. It's great to know that I'm not alone and other people know how horrible it feels.

And still it goes on. Really thought I was over it so went back to work on Thursday just for a half day. Same on Friday although I wasn't feeling great. By the time I got home I was ill again and spent the rest of the day lying on the sofa and rushing to the bathroom.
Really fed up with it now.

same here. Just had a really busy couple of days which I was dreading but they were ok in the end. Woke up today and I'm back in bed now, can't face anyone. Got a big event this evening too and need to drive. It's not so much dizziness now - more a vague swaying sensation and I can't stand chatter. Which is useful with kids around Hmm

I get this too. It's awful. I think its definitely related to being stressed and run down. I've got it now, nowhere near as bad as past episodes where I literally had to lie still in bed and not move a muscle, but I still have the slightly dizzy, out of it feeling. So horrible.

I have also got tinnitus. Has anyone else got this? I think mine is inherited as my dad suffered from dizzy spells and tinnitus too.
