She's 30. She had a diseased kidney removed at birth and a kidney transplant of the remaining one at 8yo. She's now in resus fighting for her life with hyperkalaemia. This is the local A&E without a specific renal unit so the docs are liaising with her consultant's team at a London hospital by phone and Skype - she is too ill to be transferred. Does anyone have any experience of this? My auntie and mum are with you, she has no partner or kids, I've got a toddler at home so can't go. Keeping all phones free for news but worried sick.

Thank you for all your lovely words. So nice to know that there are people out there who care who don't even know me! I've spent the day at my aunts house, took round a cottage pie and a lasagne for the freezer and my mum has done some cleaning for her. Just in shock almost denial to be honest. My oh has taken today off to be with dd so I can collect my thoughts and spend time with the family.

It is so tragic. Her kidney tranplant she had at 8 years-old, did give her 22 years of life that she wouldn't have had without it. Try to concentrate on the joy you both had together during her too short life.

It is the worst thing we experience in our lives to lose a loved one.
