A pooh problem - might be serious?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a baby (mines 10months) who has been constipated due to not drinking enough. I'm almost at my wits end. He drinks just enough formula milk but rejects water or juice. I breastfed my other 3 and never had a prob keeping them hydrated. DS4 has hypotonia - newly diagonsed so don't know much. Could be causing the constipation. Tonight he passed a huge, fairly solid pooh which had mucus round it. Looked on NHS direct website but not helpful. Docs tomorrow but in the meantime any idea what the mucus might be?

poo sounds ok to me but I am not an expert!

try ice lollies instead of a drink - you can make your own so you know they are not too sugary.

it is fairly normal for a pooh from a constipate dhild to have bits of mucous on it. I would not worry too much
Glad you are seeing the dr perhaps some lactulose would help.
could you offer him watered down milk???
as long as he has a pint of milk per day it should really matter in what form it comes...

I've been watering his milk down a little. He did drink quite a bit today when I think about it - it was hot (weather not milk!). Probably what helped him do such a whopping poo!

lol
Probably. discuss it with your gp but you could probably water it down even further if you are worried about his fluid intake. providing he is still getting his pint of milk it is probably nothing too much to worry about.
Am not an expert but I would wonder if the hypotonia would affect the muscles of the bowel as well...
Best to get some advice from the drs but try not to worry too much!!
