can you sterilise it in the microwave? Have recently been convereted and DH not too amused with boiling of said item on the hob. Wondered whether it could be sterilised using lo's old microwave steriliser?

Have read threads regarding exploding mooncups so am a little anxious too try!

I don't see why not. If they can be boiled they can be steam-sterilised. I generally sterilise mine in Miltons, as we live in a hard-water area and I don't like the limescale depositing on the Mooncup (nor having to scrub it off the saucepan).

If your dh is squeamish (and does he know just how much you're saving?), then Miltonsing can be done much more discreetly in the bathroom.

BTW, I must have missed the threads about exploding mooncups? Can you point them out to me? Grin Could do with a ROFL.

Hi PrettyCandles, can't find the thread about exploding Mooncup, was along the lines of being left boiling with lid on, lid was removed and bang, big mess on the floor!

I think I'll try the microwave thing, I mean it's made of the same stuff teats are isn't it?

Yes, they really are woman enough for the job! I do find that I tend to leak a tiny bit, especially on the heaviest first day or so, but I never need more than a pantyliner to cope with it. It could just be that I need to work on my pelvic floor Wink. Took me a year to work up the courage to try one - but I'm now a total convert.

rosycheek · 10/05/2006 15:04

Have found it totally leakproof so far...and after 3 lo wasn't sure it would be (not much in the way of pelvic floor muscle if you know what I mean!)

It is soooo comfy too, can't feel it at all and is really easy to use...am now trying to persuade all my friends to try! Grin

I'm too tree-huggy and mooncuppy to possess a microwave. [nose in the air]

But I do stick it in the dishwasher, which has the added benefit of upsetting MIL. Wink

Lol spiderama...but how tree hugging is a dishwasher eh?? Grin

Like you 006 I was a little sceptical at first, but you really can't feel it. I've cut the long bit on the bottom (to help pull it out) off completely. And to put it in you fold it in half and then half again and as you put it in in sort of pops open....and even with shot muscles it still stays in place!! (they do 2 sizes...I was tempted at first to ask if they did a bigger one!)

Go on you contrary Mary...you've got to give a try....and just think how smug you will feel knowing you're becoming a tree hugger Grin
