I'm 11 weeks today this is my second pregnancy. Everything was going well until 7 days ago when I was struck down with sciatica for a disc problem it's never happened me before. I've been on my front all week in agony im on strong codeine tryed to not take dimazapan but had to. I can't see an end to this pain, I have a toddler to look after and my husband has Beenn brilliant but he needs to go back to work. We have no family near I feel like him and my daughter would be better Off without meAnd that I'm causing my unborn baby harm every day by medication. I'm in agony. Physically and emotionally.

Sorry to hear you feel so low, sciatica can be he'll, if like me yours is across top of buttock and into hip I found it helps to put a hot water bottle on side and try if you can to move leg and hip about I know it hurts and may be difficult being pregnant but lying or sitting always makes mine worse. Is you can stretch at all it releases it. You are need by your family so try to be positive if you can, a chiropractor can also help

Sorry you're in so much pain, i have recurring sciatica and t is awful. The only drug free thing I have found that helps is a TENS machine. I was do sceptical at first but it really works for me and at the first hint of pain I put it on and whack it up as high as I can stand it, it's not a cure all but it means that the pain is more bearable and I can at least be upright doing hints.

I know it doesn't work for everyone but may be worth a go, hope you find some relief.

Ask for a referral to an ortho consultant (do you have insurance?) you can have steroid injections if needed during pregnancy. Go back to gp.

I had sciatica a couple of years ago and had to take co-codomol for the pain. I wasn't pregnant but I am a carer for my severely disabled teenage DD - probably the cause of my back problems. I actually found that moving around and exercise helped. I could only sit on upright hard chairs and if I sat for more than a few minutes, I was in agony when I tried to stand. I spent many an evening spreadeagled on my front on the living room floor - the only way I could get comfortable sometimes.
Try to keep moving and avoid lifting your toddler as much as possible. Mine lasted 6 weeks but has not come back since.

Thanks bigbluebus, it's great to hear yours didn't come back I can't even sit on a chair and it's pure agony to walk around so I wonder if I'm doing more damage by trying to walk?
Samvet I am in the ukand going to phone doctor in morning for steroid injection, thank you.
Hi Rosie I have a tens machine that I bought for labour last time I haven't used it because they always say not to when pregnant but what you think or does anyone else know?
Thanks to you too mrs mobbs, my physio doesn't want me to see a chiro always find people a but anti then in the uk I don't know why I've read they can really help but in trying to trust my physio right now so I'll have to go with that.
Thanks for everyone's responses please keep then coming .....
