Does your toddler wear glasses?

I´m so sad. My 20 month old has to get glasses tomorrow, starting on a lifetime of glasses-wearing (like me!) Do you have any tips on what type of frames/lenses I should get or how to encourage her to wear them? Does anyone have experience of dealing with a squint with patches or surgery?

P45, a friend had this with her DD when she was under two years old. I just wanted to add a really positive post, as I know my friend had no problems getting her DD to wear the glasses, she was brilliant with them.

Also, the glasses were a godsend for the girl and she came on in leaps and bounds from the timid little girl she was, who was a late walker...she obviously just didn't feel confident because she couldn't see properly!!

So hopefully the benefits will be obvious for you as well x

Thanks Sparklemagic! Thanks All! I´m trying to come to terms with the change. Funny what an upset this suituation is to so many people.. I think the reason I´m upset is because SOMEBODY ELSE is telling me for the first time that my DD is not perfect. And the glasses are proof of it...

Going to look for the old threads on squints...

Just wanted to post another positive story for you P45. I had several operations to correct squints in both eyes when I was younger, also wore patches and glasses from 18 months. I know it was tough for my mum to go through but every time I see an adult with an uncorrected squint I am sooooooooo grateful that my mum was strong for me. Especially now that I have my own 'perfect' 8mo. Your little ones will thank you in the long run - and I think I looked v cute in my specs Wink I'm just waiting for a referral to an optometrist to get my ds checked out but I don't think there are any problems, it seems to run in the females of my family, my aunt had similar problems and my cousin's little girl is going through it now.

Thanks for the encouragement manamana; DD now has her new specs and has been really good at keeping them on : ) I´m so pleased!!!!
