Is SADS (sudden adult death syndrome) undetectable?

Have come across quiet a few stories on the media about people collapsing and passing away due to SADS or undetectable heart condition. Is it really the case? Or are we missing clues because of lack of awareness about this condition ?

Agree that CRY are a good source of help if you're worried - they do screening tests all over the country. A great friend died from this 4 years ago - she was the healthiest person I knew, never had more than a cough or cold so therefore had never had an ECG so we'll never know if it could have been detectable.

I took ds1-17 for a screening last year.

He plays lots of football, there is a history of heart problems on dh's side of the family and after Fabrice Muamba collapsed I felt he should be checked over.

They did an ECG tracer on him at a CRY screening clinic and all was well. If there had been an abnormal trace he would have gone next door to the scanner and Dr. We had a chat with the Cardiologist who said that while some abnormalities are picked up it can't detect all heart and circulatory problems.

I would recommend CRY screenings to anyone who is concerned, they do clinics all over the country for 14-35 year olds and they're free. I sent a donation in advance but you can donate on the day.
