Cramp in the calf...bad pain afterwards?

I woke up with a terrible cramp on Weds morning, i am 24 weeks pregnant, and since then my calf is really really sore, struggle to get up the stairs and hurts when i walk, it seems to be getting more painful not less iykwim.

Is this normal after cramp? or could it be something sinister?

Thanks

I remember having calf cramps in both pregnancies, really agonising at times - awful! I don't hink it's anything sinister though - sometimes they say it's a lack of salt but I don't really know.If it lasts much longer I'd ask your midwife or GP about it.

get them (midwife or GP) to check it out

I got terrible cramp in one of my pregnancies and the pain was awful. I also convinced myself it was a blood clot because the pain was so bad but the GP and the midwife had a good look at it and sent me away!

It's worth mentioning so they can have a look see.

Got this with both pregnancies and its agony. Calf could be tender for a couple of days afterwards.

Couldn't have been lack of salt as I was downing Marmite crisps like they were going out of fashion during 1st pregnancy Grin 2nd time was told something about calcium I think and to drink milk before bed. Excellent excuse for big mugs of hot chocolate and it didn't seem to be as bad!

i have pulled the muscles in my calf all the time this pregnancy. i struggled to walk etc too.
best thing i find is to point your toes up (as far as you can towards you) and massage your calf. i was told to eat lots of bananas (pottasium) and since i've eaten more of them it's not happened so much.

i had cramp and subsequent calf pain during my pregnancy so is probably nothing to worry about.... i would get the gp to check you dont have a dvt (deep vein thrombosis) though just in case, symptoms include calf pain, tenderness, hot to touch and swelling.... probably no this but hey keep the docs busy!
