Measles.

We have had a few reported cases of measles in our town, and as a result all preschool age children are being offered their MR booster now.

Ds is having it today, although he is only just 3, but I am so worried about my youngest who is only 2.5 weeks old! Is there anything I can do to stop him getting it?

Also how do I find out if I was immunised against measles? I have a funny feeling I wasn't.

Colditz - that's a worry for you with the baby.
All I can suggest is ask at the practice where ds1 is getting his booster and get their advice.
You'd need a blood test to confirm whether you are immune.

Get your immunity checked- if you have antibodies he's fine.

Colditz, can imagine you're worried. I am going through the same thing with ds2 (5 months): there's measles here as well. I looked on NHSdirect website and there it said that if you are immune to measles yourself, your baby has passive immunity against it for about 1 year after birth. This is regardless of fact if you're breastfeeding (antibodies cross placenta in womb, and baby keeps them for varying length of time). Maybe you could get a blood test to see if you're immune?
