Would you agree with the following?

Sinus pressure or infection can indeed cause pain which feels as though it?s coming from teeth. Here are some signs that it?s a sinus problem and not a tooth problem: the pain is only in the upper back teeth, it?s a continuous dull ache and/or tenderness to chewing or biting vs. sensitivity to hot or cold, and you have sinus or nasal congestion on the same side as the tooth pain. In this case try a decongestant nasal spray. If in doubt, see a dentist to examine the painful teeth.

And;
Absolutely! The maxillary sinuses are hollow air filled cavities on either side of the nose. Some of the sensory nerves that supply the upper back and middle teeth run through the maxillary sinuses. When the sinus membranes are inflamed or infected, the nerves can be irritated resulting in toothache symptoms. An upper toothache can often be the major symptom in sinusitis.

Therefore I am saying I have maxillary sinusitis and sudafed should sort it?

I agree actually.. i too have a sinus infection atm, i can see it (swelling above cheekbones) and feel it running down the side of my nose into my top front teeth. Lots of sneezing and steam inhalation here, and with no NHS dentist around, i hope to god we're right!

Jellykat thanks jelly. Well ds has just woken me up and I feel loads better after just taking one sudafed Shock as I've been up and feel it a little again but very happy that I've found the cause and no need to visit the dentist

Colds can make teeth ache as well especially teeth that are heavily filled.

Sounds like it. But..it's too late but don't take Sudafed at night as its a stimulant and keeps you awake

LovesBeingWokenEveryNight · 04/03/2013 06:08

Fanjo no danger there, took it before bed at 10pm ish. Ds is a bad sleeper hence my last post (have been snoozing my alarm since 5am) oh and it's the regular one not the extra type one think that one has cafine?

The actual medicine is a stimulant even without caffeine :)

This is so true!

I once spent a week waiting for a dentist appointment, crying in pain!

Nothing wrong with my teeth and over the counter decongestant sorted it out!

Signs that it's sinusitis rather than tooth ache is worse when bending forward and if you jump/jog/run (impact) it hurts.

If it's a throbbing pain which is worse with hot and better with cold then it's more likely to be toothache.

I had a one day flu like think on Saturday and everything ached even my teeth all along the top on one side of my mouth. I hoped the two things were connected as I had only had a dentist check up a few weeks ago. Lo and behold when I woke up on Sunday I no longer felt that I been hit by a bus and teeth no longer sensitive.

LovesBeingWokenEveryNight · 05/03/2013 21:34

Thanks all. Well a few days on and I only feel bad when the sudafed is wearing off so yay defo the problem
