Hi Yorkiegirl
I am on a dental plan since my practice went private,so i pay 12 quid a month and i am having a filling on Friday at 52 quid.Think its a scandal to have to pay all that.Angry

I paid £40 recently - but the dentist stressed he was doing it cheaply because he was new to the area and trying to drum up business by being very competitive. It was a white filling.

I had to pay 103 x 3 for one tooth because i kept having problems with it and then went to another dentist on nhs who charged me 83 for the one in front because he wasnt sure which one was the problem, it didnt cure the pain/problem so had to go back and pay 12.50, problem i think has gone after so many attempts i am not that hopefull.

Tortington · 03/05/2006 08:29

i pay about that.
oh, but then theres the fee for the first appointment - so rally its over a hundred quide
becuase you go to dentist appt - £40 odd quid then heysay - yes your right you do need a filling come back in 2 months when we have an appointment and pay us fro the privalige of being the only dental practise in the area that will take kids - of course we cant screw them over - so we will screw you. we will make you wait months for the privilige of being screwed over - oh but the waiting will make feeling screwed that much worse - thats why we do it.

I'm having a filling today which is going to cost £60. As it is a white one it won't be covered by the NHS so I have to pay - even though I've got a Maternity Exemption certificate - that's a lot of use then!

The filling is only having to be done becasue an old one has fallen out!

Equivalant of 85 quid I paid recently for a white mini-filling. (very shocked) Also white. But the dentist used this funny technique where he wrapped up the whole tooth in some kind of latex sheet and there was no discomfort whatsoever and I could watch the whole procedure on a screen. Anyone else had this done? It was quite an experience tbh

What do you think of that ChicagoMum? You are a dentist aren´t you?
