Hi all,

Just wondering if someone who knows about endo could offer a view?

In both my pregnancies I had what was variously diagnosed (no one seemed sure) as SPD, sciatica, and piriformis syndrome. Whatever it was it was effing horrible and is the main reason I won't be having any more kids.

After my first pregnancy and when periods eventually returned they were super heavy and I got this horrible kind of throbbing, dragging pain in my fanjo area about 4 days before period started and which carried on until around day 2 of period. Also loose, frequent, watery stools suring same time frame, and coccyx and hip pain too.

I dunno what made me think of it but I suddenly wondered the other day if this could be endometriosis.

Does anyone have a view?! TIA

My endometriosis was found during an op to remove my appendix but they said it was mild. My pain tends to be towards the end of my peiiod and for a few days after that- I'd assumed that if it was endometreosis the pain would be worst when the bleeding was heaviest but it don't happen like that for me!

I think the symptoms vary from person to person but the only way they can diagnose it is with a laparoscopy (keyhole surgery- three little cuts for the camera and tools). If your pain is having a big impact on your life then get your GP to refer you to a gynaecologist who knows about endo (google it- there's an organisation with a list of gynaes who specialise) and push for them to open you up and have a look. If they find some they can cut it out or burn it away and that should help the pain.

Sympathy though- it's a nightmare trying to get someone to take it seriously. There seems to be a lot of 'oh it's just period pain'.

Also ask your GP about mefanemic acid and tranexamic acid- meds that have helped my pain significantly! Also I now take three contraceptive pill pacekts back to be to minimise the number of periods that I have.

Good luck and I hope it gets sorted out.
