Any reflexology buffs out there?

I have just started having reflexology treatments to help me relax, and was just wondering if reflexology can bring affect your periods. At my last session, my therapist said she could feel a "crunch" in one of my falopian (sp!) tubes, but it went when she worked on it. I thought no more of it, then my period started a week early, and it wasn't "normal" - i felt a gush, and almost a weeing sensation, then had wet knickers with blood in - sorry TMI!
I have recently had a miscarriage, and am desperate to conceive - but this has made me paranoid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
P.S. I have another session booked next week

hi Bobbynog, my sister is a qualified reflexologist and yes she has mentioned crunchy areas when she has given me treatments. She also gave me a gentler form of treatment throughout my pregnancy. Personally I found that if I had a pain in my back, for example, she would be able to pick this up from my feet crunchiness (sorry, sure there must be a technical term for this) or when I was due my period she would be able to tell from that particular area. I would not worry too much and I would discuss with your therapist any concerns that you do have. I have always felt better for treatments, slept better and would certainly recommend this as an alternative therapy.

I'm a reflexologist & what you describe sounds like a "healing crisis" - perfectly normal and a fab indication that healing is taking place btw!.
Basically, because reflexology works to help your body to regain it's own balance, if it's out of kilter in any way the reflexology session will kick-start your body's self healing mechanisms. Don't be paranoid, reflexology is a wonderful way to improve your general health & wellbeing but do remember to discuss your reaction when you have your next treatment and ask your practitioner to explain why it happened and more detail about the potential for future healing crisis (I can't comment as I don't know your history & I've not done your feet!)

I've treated a number of people TTC & pregnant with really good responses (I had reflexology during my labour in Jan) but I would stress that you do need to discuss any worries with your practitioner as only he/she can give you the specific guidance and reassurances you clearly need. HTH & good luck Smile

PS - "crunchiness" is the technical term Wink

Thanks - i have had 2 sessions so far and do feel more relaxed afterwards, and i will talk to her about this, but it had been praying on my mind and thought it better to ask on here than whip myself up into a frenzy!
