Background-at the end of 2006 I had breast cancer with pretty awful treatment but ok since. I do however have cancer as my first thought whenever I have a health problem I'm uncertain about.
After tea on monday I had a pain low down in my abdomen, not a sharp pain but a dull ache which kept me awake all night.I kept going to the loo with little real result just a lot of wind and a little poo [TMI sorry].I went to the GP yesterday morning. He did a urine test and examined my tummy. He said my urine was clear and as the pain had almost gone by then he said wait and see for 48 hours and come back if it was no better-take paracetamol in the meantime.
The pain had almost gone by yesterday afternoon and I had a good night's sleep. Then this morning I was reading a magazine which described the symptoms of ovarian cancer one of which is abdominal/pelvic pain [I dont have the other symptoms-bloating,frequent weeing, loss of appetite] but am now convinced I am going to die even though the pain has gone.
Please help me.I have an unrelated blood test next week and will see doc the week after for results.Should I mention my fear?Should I go earlier? has anyone any experience of low abdominal aches [I am 68 so post menopausal].?
I'd be grateful for any comments even,"Don't be so stupid!"

Hello Smile. No experience here but didn't want your post to stay unanswered for long.

I'm sorry to hear about your breast cancer but not surprised that you are now very alert to what is happening with your body.

Now, as far as I know (and I am no doctor!), ovarian cancer causes persistent abdominal discomfort. If yours has gone and doesn't return then hopefully you have nothing to worry about. But but, do mention it to your GP. After all, there is a link between some kinds of breast cancer and ovarian cancer, isn't there? And if the discomfort returns before your appointment, then book an earlier one.

Chances are it was just a bug or something you ate. I am 30 years younger than you but I once mentioned a similar-sounding low abdominal discomfort to my GP. I was being investigated for endometriosis at the time but she did say that, obviously, your bowels and reproductive organs share the same space and it is not always possible to tell which of them are grumbling.

Anyway, I won't say you're being stupid, I'll say you're being sensible in taking good care of your own health. Just try not to worry unduly - easier said than done, I know.

I won't say 'don't be stupid' because I don't think it is stupid but I will say go back to your GP and tell them your fears. I think your fears are natural.

Thanks hell :-) I feel stupid because on Monday I was at GP for medication review and I felt absolutely fine. On Tuesday morning, after a night of pain, I was back at the surgery for emergency appt and saw a different GP.
I now feel more or less OK but if the pain comes back I will definitely go back. I'd never leave anything which could be serious but I feel a bit silly. I have a blood test on Wednesday and a follow up the week after when I will mention my fears whatever happens.
