She was previously on tamoxifen for breast cancer. I heard this is strongly associated with the particular kind of aggressive cancer of the uterus she was diagnosed with. They didn't do any radiotherapy or chemo after the hysterectomy and I can't help wondering why, and if they had done would it not have returned. I can't understand why they didn't do any follow up treatment tbh and I hope the decision was clinical and not cost-based. I don't really want to think about the likely prognosis, but it would be good to hear from anyone who has experience of this kind of scenario.

My sister had cancer of the womb and also wasn't given chemo or radiotherapy. They felt it wasn't necessary.

What treatment are they going to offer to your mum now?

They removed the growth when they found it, and now she'll be on a 6 week course of radiotherapy I believe. Full CT scan first.

I came across some research that said recurrence rates were twice as frequent if follow-up treatment was delayed after a hysterectomy, and obv my mum didn't get any at all which makes me wonder. She was told she has a very aggressive type of cancer (sarcoma).

How is your sister now thesnootyfox?

My sister was also on tamoxifen for breast cancer which was also unrelated to the womb cancer.

It's tough. Your mum has been through a lot.

I hope the treatment goes well and look after yourself too.

Sorry crossed post.

My sister is fine. She had the womb cancer and then breast cancer diagnosed less than 6 months after and had to go through chemo for that.

She has reached the 5 year mark now and seems fine although she does have other issues unrelated to the cancer.

I'm glad your sister's OK. Thanks for posting. Smile

I know the internet is a very bad place to be when you're worried about health issues, but I have now found information on a cancer site that they don't do post operative treatment for uterine sarcoma because it makes no difference to survival rates. That doesn't sound good to me. I suppose we just have to stay positive.

I just had a terrible thought that she might search the internet herself and come across this thread. That would be awful, I know she's much more scared than she lets on.

Sorry to bump again. Just wondered if there was anyone else with personal/family experience of aggressive uterine cancer? Don't know why really, other than to talk to somebody.
