How much bicarb of soda should I put in the bath, and how often should I apply the cream??

Um... can't remember... a tablespoon for the bath? Is the cream calamine? If so, I think youcan apply it whenever you like - doesn' it have instructions on it?

Don't use calamine lotion! Icky stuff dries and makes the itching worse.

Zinc & Castor Oil cream is brilliant, or Eurax is pretty good as well. Reapply as required.

will get the eurax and rhus tox tablets(can you use both??) Im confused now tho...are the spots supposed to stay dry or moist and which does bicarb do? Used sudocream last night in desperation as was on my own with her and cant drive so couldnt go out and get stuff! seemed to work ok...managed a whole 2 hours sleep!

Best thing is to get antihistamine to stop itching at night. Depends age of child whether it is piriton or phenergan.

Lmccrean · 30/04/2006 13:00

she is 3 - couldnt find any yesterday in chemist - were all for 6+

Piriton syrup is for 1 and over isn't it? Fro DSs I used piriton, rhus tox, some other natural remedy for skin conditions by "New Era", bicarb, eurax, calamine cream (not lotion), medicated talc after a bath, the works!!

Twiglett · 30/04/2006 13:41

I ran a bath through a sock with a cup full of porridge oats in it .. it runs all cloudy and works very well

never used cream at all

with bicarb I just shook in about 1/3rd of a tub
