Back pain... Hangover of SPD

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has had ongoing SPD symptoms after pregnancy. Dd is 2 now, and I am still in pain, getting worse if anything. Seems to be on my 2 pelvic joints at the back. No pain on the front one as no weight there now, but turning over, stairs, sitting and standing is a problem on some days.

Have had to cancel minded children today as I don't feel steady. Weirdly it will just seem to go into spasm, be bad for a day, then go, the rest of the time I am fine.

It is triggered by heavy sleep in one position e.g. Fell asleep Saturday night flat on back on sofa for a few hours

Any advice greatly appreciated

I had it very bad when pregnant and my DS is almost 8 now and I still put some pains I get down to it. I think there is a lot of research still to be done on the subject and therefore a lot professionals don't really understand it themselves.
Advice for improvements I don't really know - I have heard that yoga can help but I am not sure. Sorry I havn't been any help really but I think your pains probably are still steming from SPD.

I had spd with dc2, she's now 17 months and I'm now getting back pain in the exact place you describe.

It was really bad in the summer which I put down to carrying her on one hip a lot as she wasn't walking. Anyway I had 6 sessions of physio which have really helped. Now if it flares up I do some stretches that I was shown and it clears in a day or two.

I managed to get the sessions paid for by my employer but its worth asking your gp to see if they'll refer you.

I hope you find something that helps :)

10 years on I still get pain every month during my period. Losing weight has helped as has Pilates. I occasionally get a bad few days about once a year. Ibuprofen, heat and lying on the floor tend to help.

Could be worth seeing an osteopath? Your GP might be able to recommend someone even if you can't get it funded on the nhs
