Any advice on tiredness?

I am much more tired than usual and I thought I may benefit from multivitamins. Any brands that spring to mind? Any herbal thing that can help overcome tiredness? Maybe sleep would, but I have 2 under 2, so no chance of doing that.
Well, any other thing that have worked for you, please!

Ginseng

Whoops ds knocked me! Ginseng worked for me, got it at holland & barrett. It was a long time ago that i took it though so can't remember how often you take it or anything

Get your thyroid and iron levels tested first, both of those can leave you much more tired than usual.

sounds ridiculous, but getting a bit more exercise has given me a lot more energy and seriously imporved my general mood.

iron supplements, especially if you are still breastfeeding - spatone or floradix are quite gentle.

also, cutting down/out caffeine. feels like hell at first but much better after the first couple of days.

granarybeck · 26/04/2006 18:41

Agree re exercise, probably not what you feel like but does seem to create more energy.

Agree with others re iron /thyroid tests etc.

But a good multivitamin is Multibionta (with probiotics) and echinacea.. Plus going to bed early nights for a few weeks - not days.

good luck (wish I listened to my own advice lol)

Thanks for all the advices. Will my GP be happy to do these tests? I hope so.
Silly me, I had actually increased my intake of caffeine to keep me alert :o
I thought of going today to the local gym to see if I could join a class. I went to the wrong place, arggh. My brain is not working very well either.
Those of you who exercise, what do you do with the kids while you do it? It would be good also because I need to lose some weight.

Last time that I felt weak, I thought about joining a gym, but before I could do it I discovered I was pregnantShock, hence the weakness.
I'll check out the vitamins you recommend. I could try and set a time to go to bed, I find myself sterilising bottles at 11:30pm, last night ironing at midnight :( I could say 10:30. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!

Being tired is horrible, no wonder they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture in certain countries!!

I get plenty of fresh air, I walk everywhere - are your two still in buggies? If so buckle them up and go for a really vigerous walk! Get the heart pumping and you'll feel invigeroted.

Also, try and do your little jobs when they first go down to bed, the ironing can wait.. I know... It really really can! Being a happy healthy sane mummy is far more important than a few wrinkled shirts!!

Finally, caffeine is a big nooo. It dehydrates (which can cause tiredness so make sure you're drinking) and it drains your energy!

HTH, and good luck xxx

Yes, lilstarry1, the kids are still in buggies, double buggie rather. I do walk everywhere, not a lot though. I've been to the gym, they have a class on Saturdays for toddlers, so I guess I can join an adult class while DH stays with the kids in the toddler area. One day a week is better than nothing!
