Have you seen this?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this campaign by A&E about proper use of their services. They?ve made these giant yellow men which are all In different poses with different illnesses and they tell you where you should go to be treated instead of A&E. Oh and there is also two that do actually need to go to A&E.

I thought this was quite an interesting campaign to get people to make a good choice and stop overburdening the NHS when they don?t need to go. I know im guilty of worrying and going to A&E when I probably shouldn?t ? think ill think twice now after seeing this.

What do I think? I tend to think that the sort of people who would rush off to A and E, for no reason, probably won't take any notice they are the type of person who rings 999 because they've lost their socks. But the sort of people who worry about wasting the doctor's/hospital's time when they have something seriously wrong, will be even more worried!

It's finding the right balance, - and being clear - I wouldn't go to a&e with diarrhoea, but if I had a very young baby or elderly relative with severe diarrhoea I would - but I have enough knowledge to make that decision, - some people don't and delays might occur in treatment because people faff about going to a walk in clinic.

On the other hand I am massively in favour of walk in clinics, and the work they do, and obviously they would refer serious problems on.

So I think - good idea but with plenty of failsafes inbuilt - information and education is the way to go IMO.
