Hysterectomy/menopause

I've Googled and looked on hysterectomy support forums but I can't seem to find an answer so I'm looking to MN for help.

I had an emergency hysterectomy at age 35 following a bad birth. I don't have a cervix and my right ovary was ruptured so that was removed. My left ovary is still there.

I'm now 42 and I feel like crap. My hair is thinning and in bad condition. My skin is papery. I'm tired all the time. I've lost weight (3 stone over 18 months). I have no sex drive (I'm not bothered about that, I've been single for years).

Has my ovary packed up? From what I've researched there is no definitive test to say 'yes, you have gone through the menopause' so what is the point of going to my Doctor? Do I just have to put up with feeling this bad? I'm like a husk!

Yes, always worth getting checked out. It could be menopause (and HRT might help), or it could be something else (thyroid?)

Thyroid did occur to me as my sister has thyroid problems. I have a home bp monitor. My bp is normal range but heart rate is generally over 100 when resting.

I know I should go to my doctor. Just delaying the inevitable I guess.

Defo sounds like thyroid probs esp as its in your family. Please go to gp and get everything tested, could be a number of things.
