Peters doc want him to do a visit to uxbridge this week. fine fair enough. but we will have to take his spare machine with him, ok, am fine with that. but they wont supply us with spare wheels for the spare machine, not fine with that, its bloomin heavey. they say to leave the spare in the car Angry

now what is the point of giving us a spare machine and having to take it wiuth us if we can actually remove it from the car to take round uxbridge? what if (and its a big if, but a real possibility) Peters machine fails. I am going to have to leave him being hand pumped by a paramedic or comp-lete stranger, whilst i run back to the car to get the machine. no no no. its not going to happen. i am not taking hi mout without wheels for the spare.

to uxbridge? no. its part of him aiming to get home. they want us to go further than the village on our own. i am thinking of just going for a drive, and say we've been there lol.

I know it'll be harding pushing a buggy and pulling the machine, but i'll manage.

(If you need a hand, I'm happy to come and meet you there, Misdee - I know it'd defeat the object a bit, but still, the offer's there!)

misdee · 25/04/2006 09:43

thanks hunker. but you'll be buggy pushing as well.

actually i'll take my sling for dd3, and push the machine.

of course you need s*dding wheels for the spare machine if it's heavy! What are you meant to do? Tie it to a skateboard??

spacecadet · 25/04/2006 10:27

how riodiculous, Angry, whats the point in trying to encourage you to venture into the village, if they are going to make it seem impossible-you need spare wheels, tell em, no wheels, no visit.

spacecadet · 25/04/2006 10:27

*ridiculous

i have finally managed to get hold of peter, have told him to tell his docs if they want us to go further afield, then i want wheels for the spare.

Is the machine really likely to fail, or are you being cautious?
If it does fail, does it give any warning, like bleeping or flashing, or does it just go?
If you had wheels for the spare, would you be able to push both machines and manage dd3?

misdee · 25/04/2006 10:46

it could fail, and they have been known to do so. Peters old one went haywire a few months back and he couldnt move off the bed as not enough blood was being pumped.

if it fails, it starts to alarm. we then have to check batteries, change leads and if that doesnt work then start hand-pumping.

The hospital insist on us taking the spare when we go out further than than a walk to the village. So the fact they wont allow us to have wheels to take the spare round with us, is just stupid. I dont know uxbridge very well, and if the machine did fail then i know i wouldnt want to leave Peter being hand-pumped by just anyone.

Peter pushes his own machine. I also want to take the spare with us to see if we can get it on a buggy board or litaf seat to go.

that's just ridiculous misdee Angry

how big is the machine? Would it fit in a shopping trolley or on one of those suitcase wheels attatchment things?

although you shouldn't have to provide your own solution should you?
