Is it ok to give piriton syrup with calpol? It doesn't say on the box of piriton. Anyone help?

Well Bree fell foul of the Piriton-type stuff and alcohol (Desperate Housewives).. but I suppose it's not really the same thing.. Wink

I'm not sure.. sorry.. but I'm sure somewhere else will know..

ring nhs direct, but i would say they are ok in correct doses as medised which i give my dd instead of calpol, contains paracetamol and piriton(or antoher antihistemine)

brimfull · 24/04/2006 19:05

piriton will cause sleepiness, calpol shouldn't,so it should be okay.

Medised has a mixture of both types of drug already,so can't see a problem if you keep to minimum dosage of both.

EvesMama · 24/04/2006 19:21

but dont mix medised with calpol as both contain paracetamol.

Thanks all. have ended up just giving the piriton as DD perked up.

I was also told I could do this by my HV. It's like a home made medised

The only advantage Medised has is that it's suitable for under 1 year old which I don't think Piriton is.
