Oh goodness!! How old is she?

I did this twice when I was 3 with my Mum running frantically behind me. I escaped with a few bruises.

How scary for you!!! I assume she's not hurt, just got a fright??

clairabelle · 15/01/2004 16:34

any injuries Sb?

JJ · 15/01/2004 16:35

Yelling is good. If she vomits twice or seems snoozy and out of it, take her to the A and E. There is, most likely, nothing wrong. Both my boys have fallen down stairs more than once and they're ok. Weird, strange, little boys, but that's not from the falling.

Probably scared her more than it hurt.

Hulababy · 15/01/2004 16:35

Oh the poor thing. Does she seem okay?

Hope she's ok, what a scare for you.

clairabelle · 15/01/2004 16:36

Sb did she loose conciousness at all or did she cry straight away

M2T · 15/01/2004 16:36

Maybe you should take up to your local GP's for a wee check over?

LIZS · 15/01/2004 16:37

That is so horrible. I hope she is ok.

I can still hear the thumping of dd's head as she slipped head first down ours and I feel sick if she wobbles at the top now. She was fine but I did get her checked over.

WideWebWitch · 15/01/2004 16:38

Poor you. I hope she's OK.

Lisa78 · 15/01/2004 16:43

SB - from my brain, if she isn't showing any signs of head trauma and no massive bruising, don't worry
From my heart, get her checked over just so you aren't worrying if nothing else
Hope shes okay

clairabelle · 15/01/2004 16:45

Sb just to say again I hope she's ok but becos the fall is from a significant height I would take her to A&E to get her checked over.

that's good that she screamed straight away sb, you know your daughter and will decide whether to take her or not. If you decide not to or want to wait and see you need to look out for drowsiness, vomiting more than twice, continued pain after pain relief. If there's any sweeling try a cold cloth to bring the bruising down

JanH · 15/01/2004 16:50

sb, poor you and poor her - it's amazing though how a small child seems to bounce sometimes - the redness may well be the worst of it. But I would go to A & E I think, just to make sure. Hugs for both of you (( ))

DSW · 15/01/2004 16:51

I was told that if they bumped their heads quite hard - but was no blood but a lump appeared - to not let them go to sleep for a good hour afterwards - just incase they are slightly concussed.

sb34 - my dd 19mths did exactly the same a few weeks ago - but I think she scared herself more than hurt herself, but she also had a big red bump.

Blu · 15/01/2004 16:52

Put cold flannels on the bumped bits, and then check her for any other painful bits, run your hands up and down her limbs, ribs etc.
Is it concussion if the pupils are dilated, or small? can't remember. BUT I think, as others have said, the advice in the Gt Ormond st book is if they did not lose consciousness, and are not drowsy, floppy or sick, they are o.K.

POOR little girl, and you.

DSW · 15/01/2004 16:52

Pressed the wrong button before putting - hope you both feel better soon Xxx

Sb don't worry about keeping her awake, you just need to make sure she is easily rousable when she doed go off, check her every couple of hours overnight and just be aware of the things I posted earlier. Glad she's feeling a bit better. Take care

sis · 16/01/2004 12:05
