Am thinking of taking up jogging.

I have a question though, do I have to buy new improved running trainers before I go out, or can I wait a couple of weeks to see if I am going to stick at it - can't really afford to splash out if I decide I'm not going to stick at it?

Have some Reebok classic trainers, but they don't look like all the running shoes you see in magazines.

TIA

Hiya - feeling inspired by the London, Jonesy? Grin

I would say if they are a 'cross' trainer then you'd be ok for a little while. But - the picture I have in my head of Reebok classic is that there's more fashion shoe (just a straight rubber sole thingy) is that right? If so I'd be very careful - don't want to finish you off before you even start! Plus bad shoes can make your legs feel really heavy and make you feel that jogging is harder than it really is.

You can get some fairly cheap runners that you could wear casually if you decided not to carry on. You will though - you'll get the bug......

Good luck and enjoy it!

I'm convinced it's a fashion trainer as well, smbk. I've argued with DH about this. He says it's fine (probably 'cos he doesn't want me to spend any money) Grin, and I reckon I need to but some proper ones.

I went out this morning - did about quarter of an hour (3 mins walking, 60 secs running). Felt knackered after though. Blush

I really enjoyed it. Think I might have to bite the bullet, and go and spend some money on some trainers.

I was knackered after my first run - spent 20 minutes on the living room floor convinced I was going to die Blush. Stuck at it though and now couldn't give it up if I wanted to (got bitten by a dog 10 days ago and am crawling the walls to get out again).

Try not to run too fast on your 'running' bits - think stamina not speed and you'll be fine. And yeah, treat yourself to some new trainers.
