17 month fell out of high chair

My 17th month old climbed out of his high chair and fell on to the wooden floor this morning.

He cried for about 10 minutes but was soon soothed with various treats and was running round as normal so I know there's no broken bones, bit worried about his head though as didn't see the fall. No obvious injuries and I think he would have put his hands out to save himself.

Seems too 'well' for casualty but can't stop worrying.

I expect he was hardly hurt at all, but cried with the shock of the fall, is he able to tell you where it hurts?

When we went to casulty with our ds for head injury they asked if he'd been sick, if there was any discharge from his ears or if he could be woken up from sleep.

If it's a no for the 1st two and a yes from the last one then he's probably ok, but if your worried than take him anyway. Remember I'm not a dr so I can't say for sure he's ok.

Britney got a slating for this recently as she waited a week after he felt out of his highchair to take her son to the hospital cause he was out of sorts. I know its slightly different as it was the nanny who was looking after the baby, but the general consensus seems to be take the baby in to be checked "just in case"

Later reports about Britney said that she'd had a doctor check out the baby who had advised her to go to hospital if the baby showed signs of injury, such as ear discharge, unable to wake, extra sleepiness etc, which they did.

Ah, didn't hear about the later reports

Ah the old tabloid advice on head injuries!
NHS 24 web site has some very comprehensive advice on head inuries, if indeed that was hurt.
It will be normal for her to be more sleepy followint a head injury, but she should not be off ballance, repetatively vomitting, or have bruising under her eyes or fluid coming from her ears or nose.
If she develops any of these signs she should go to hospital, if you are just wanting re-assurance phone NHS 24.
Other wise, spoonful of calpol from her and a cup of tea for you, you must have got a fright!!
