I cant offer advice as such, but sympathy & hand holdind as I'm going through similar myself at the moment, though I was too scared didn't get the actual figures, only that its CKD & I've to have more tests & see the Renal Unit.

I've a history of kidney trouble - damage die to recurring infections years back, but I turned it around by changing my diet, so I thought it was all behind me, so its come as a bit of a shock, so I'm currently sticking my head in the sand a bitBlush

Have they tested for Diabetes, Thyroid & Lupus ?? - They can be the cause of it & if controlled will stop it getting worse - I'm presuming you also have high BP - my GP said its chicken & egg - CKD causes HBP & vice versa, so controlling that is important & they can give you HBP pills that help protect your kidneys - my BP is currently doing well on Losartan

The other thing I've learned from my past history is that kidneys feel the cold badly, so keep them warm - & cranberry juice is great for keeping infections at bay - I dont want to say anything on diet, as from what I'm reading its low protein/high carbs, which would be very bad if your cause was diabetes IYSWIM

you have my sympathy

According to This it's only stage 2 if you are already known to have kidney disease or damage, e.g. protein or blood in your urine or inflammation, etc.

Thanks both!
I have done some googling (fatal I know) and from what I can see the diagnosis of ckd seems a bit premature. I have had proteniuria ( spelling?) in the past but awaiting latest test results.
I am hoping this is just - sub optimal renal function rather than ckd.
Maybe wishful but feel I need more symptoms if you see what I mean.
Originally, the GP was investigating itching!!!

Definitely fatal, I looked at the link above & I'm now panicking mine is worse than I guessed as the Doctor insisted I have a flu jab - wish I hadn't looked now - lol - it's a great link though - thanks lougle

Could yours be liver related Joycey ??

I ask as my brother had itching problems, test showed excess protein - I think it showed in blood & urine, but not sure - he had no obvious symptoms such as yellowing, just very tired & itching - (though he also turned out to have an over active thyroid problem)

If so, it's abbetter diagnosis, as if you look after it, the liver can regenerate itself :)
