dd2 (6 weeks old) has thrush for the 2nd time, been giving her the drops that the doctor gave me last time but it seems to be getting worse, her mouth is all white and it does'nt seem to be clearing, it does'nt seem to bother her much, she is feeding ok even though a little soar. How long should i wait before taking her to the doctors? She has been having the drops for 4 days.

are you using nystatain. It seems to be less effective and take longer to clear up than if you use daktarin. Can you ask for daktarin gel. Also if you use nystatin, its often better to give from a spoon rather than using the dropper provided asthat can mean it gets swallowed too quickly.

Are you breastfeeding, igf so you need to treat yourself too.
I'm a trainee breastfeeding counsellor and had thrush for months and months, sort out it aas quickly asyou can

Im not breast feeding. Shes on Nystatin from a spoon, she seems worse this morning, her breath smells, is this normal?
She sucks a dummy, could this make it worse?

My DD was plagued by oral thrush. I made a point of sterilising her dummy every day. Also found Daktarin worked better than Nystatin. My DD took whole course and still had to be treated three times - as breastfeeding also had to be treated too. HTH

daktarin gel is the best IME

my dd2 had bouts of this... as she was breastfed I used to put the gel on my nipples and she had the drops - cleared it up in no time and stopped cross infection. You could put a little gel on her dummy... but yes make sure it is thoroughly sterilised.
