Attack of the killer Kiwis

I seem to have developed an allergy to Kiwi fruit. My throat gets itchy and I lose my voice.

The other day I picked up some chopped kiwi to pass to my DD and got itchy spots on my hands. Then I swear my throat got itchy. Do you think it was just psychosematic (sp?)
Can you have a reaction from just touching stuff???

It sounds a bit drastic.

afraid you can. and if you feel your allergy is afecting your throat or your tongue you need to see your gp.

and in the mean time avoid kiwi

Shock I'll have to tell DH - I'm not sure he takes me seriously and tends to chase me around the room with a kiwi fruit!

I get a similar, itchy reaction to kiwi- and a slight tongue ulceration too.

It's mainly the skin for me, but they have been banned from the house as a result

Kiwi's are one of the most allergenic foods about,I read somewhere that some people are now suggesting they be put with nuts in the serious risk, avoid with little 'uns category

Kiwi is a fairly common allergy and it is perfectly possible that you can be so allergic to it that just touching it causes problems. It is also no uncommon for allergies to develop in adulthood. Please go to your gp and get an epi-pen prescribed, just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Eeek! Epi pen?
