Hi there. I'm a mum with 11 year old twins and a 7 week old baby. I came down with d&v Thurs eve and still had d on Friday. I've not been feeding or caring for my baby or twins since I began to feel unwell but my husband has to go to work tomorrow and I want to make sure he can sleep as he's got a 60 mile drive at 5330am. Will it be ok to resume normal duties? one of my twins is complaining of a headache today too. I'm hoping he's not coming down with it!! He's not shared my bathroom and I've not cuddled him or kissed him at all.... NHS direct raw you can catch norovirus by breathing the same air as someone with norovirus but I thought it was only through contact with d&v particles?? I've been extra anal about washing my hands and cleaning to loo and sink even though I've not had anymore d&v. I don't want to make anyone else sick!

Are you certain it was norovirus? Did you catch it from someone who had a confirmed case?

From all I know of norovirus, it is highly contagious but either through direct contact (ie touching etc) so good hand washing helps or by breathing the spores as someone has the d or v (hence why it spreads on hospital wards and lots of staff catch it! Can't avoid it!). If you're 48 hours clear tonight you should be fine to look after your DC from tomorrow. Hope you fully recover soon!

Thank you!! I'm not entirely sure but symptoms fit. Had temp of 38 and bad head too. I had to have an ultrasound at hospital on Wed and they made me empty my bladder. Of course I washed my hands but if it's that virile then I could have picked it up? I'll quick to the 48 hour rule even though some sources say 3 days without preparing food. I'm concerned as I have to prepare feeds from early hours in the morning.

You could have picked it up from anywhere....anyone who didn't wash their hands thoroughly could have given it to you. The 48 hour rule is good enough for the NHS so I reckon you'll be ok :)
