Agonising agony- shaking with pain - what is happening?

I am unable to sleep due to the most horrendous constant pain.

I have an overian cyst which I have been taking duhaston for and it's my 3rd month. The ten days finished the day before yesterday. I started bleeding the day before yesterday and the nagging pain started in my hips and legs.

The bleeding got really heavy which is unusual for me. The pain was getting worse all day. I got into bed and it was suddenly without warning blindingly and horrifying painful. The pain in my hips and legs ( felt like the joints)- I was shaking and teeth were chattering. I had to pant to try to control it and it lasted for about an hour and I had a painkiller at 800mg which seemed to take fucking ages to work. Dh was terrified.

I have never know such pain. Is it normal with a cyst? Will the pain come back? How long for? Has anyone else had such terrible time? Thanks

Erm I really think you should go to A&E -

Cheeser · 11/01/2013 03:08

Agree with Random, A&E. Sounds terrifying

CuriousMama · 11/01/2013 03:08

^ what RM said. Ring nhs direct at the very least.

CuriousMama · 11/01/2013 03:10

Ring 111 now and they'll send a paramedic and ambulance for you. Or can you get to A&E?

RandomMess · 11/01/2013 03:11

Is this cyst in or on your ovary?

RandomMess · 11/01/2013 03:13

It could have caused your fallopian tube to twist with the weight

Lavenderhoney · 11/01/2013 03:31

It's on my ovary. It's 27mm at last scan which was beginning of nov. The gyny said it was small. It's never caused a moments pain til now. Only found it due to unusual bleeding.

I was begging dh to take me to hospital but we have 2 small dc which wold have to come with us- we are abroad at the moment as dh is doing some work there and I can't tell you how much I want to be home. This is making me cry almost as much. There's no one to take care of them.

The drugs are starting to wear off. I'm going to try to find a 24 hr hospital but I want a woman preferably and I was on the forum for here and everyone seems to have a horror story about all the clinics and hospitals re gynys. What a fucking nightmare.

A twisted Fallopian tube? Will I have to have an operation? It gets worse.

Thanks though.

Thinking of you keep us updated. I'd fly home if it were me but I know cash can be a problem.

RandomMess · 11/01/2013 17:58

How are you doing?

FloatyBeatie · 11/01/2013 18:02

A&E definitely. I had a cyst that suddenly became very very painful, and it turned out that it had twisted the ovary. I was operated on as an emergency (they thought it was appendicitis) and the ovary was removed (though for all I know removal isn't inevitable).

SoggySummer · 12/01/2013 00:22

You MUST get to a hospital NOW.

Sorry to be blunt but you cannot second guess what exactly is causing the pain but something is obviously wrong. You dont get pain that makes you shake for something insignificant.

Please get yourself seen without delay.

digerd · 12/01/2013 10:01

Agonising pain is the body's warning signal, do not ignore it, call NHS Direct.
My DD had erratic periods and a cyst on her ovary was found, but she was not in agonising pain, or any pain. She had to wait 6 weeks < I was in panic that it could be ovarian cancer> But after 6 weeks it had reduced to a dot.

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2013 10:03

Seek medical help where you are now.

Most small ovarian cysts do not cause pain like that.
Your cyst may or may not be the cause of your pain.
You need to be checked out.

dikkertjedap · 12/01/2013 11:22

How are you now?

I hope you have sought/are seeking medical advice.

I'm just back! Been at the hospital all day. Numerous tests ( bloods etc normal) and ultrasounds later, the gyny says my cyst is shrinking so it wasnt that. He said my uterus is overly sensitive ( the scan was v painful) and has given me drugs to tide me over til the bleeding stops for good and he can look again. so he doesn't really know yet what caused the pain.

Thank you to you all for your support, and nagging to get me to see someone ASAP:)

I wonder it it was a clot then coming down your cervix? That's shockingly painful sometimes

Please don't take any chances though, straight back whilst the pain is there if it happens again,

Ok?

Twosugarsplease · 12/01/2013 19:42

So glad you are ok, just read this, QOD jogged my memory of when I was younger, I had my period and one morning was in sooo much pain, I couldn't sit upright, it felt like what I can only describe as an elastic band stretching, and stretching to the point where if I stood up whatever it was would snap.
The pain eased off, I went to the loo and I (sorry) passed a clot, quite large, and had no more pain. My sister, mum, suggested I should have d&c, I never did, but never happened again.

CuriousMama · 12/01/2013 19:53

Phew glad you're ok :)

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2013 21:33

Glad to hear you are ok and I hope the pain does not come back.

Did you have swabs taken down below?

RandomMess · 13/01/2013 08:24

Glad you're okay, hope they get to the bottom of what is going on very soon.

Lavenderhoney · 13/01/2013 09:52

Thanks- am just taking the pain killers but I am also going to see a bone bloke about my back too, as the pains down my legs could be caused by something else, they want to rule out the pelvic and lower back pain in case I have something else. No idea what, but I find myself nodding sagely at the doctor.

Feel like I am in an episode of house which isn't much fun when it's you, and there is no hunky blonde Australian doc to take my mind off it all when I am there.
