I think you should take him to the GP or call NHS Direct tonight. My son had this when he was 11 months and he did get dehydrated. Had to have intravenous fluids. Don't want to panic you, but if he's not keeping fluids down he needs to be checked out ASAP. Best of luck.

Oh, God, I'm so sorry about the multiple posts! My computer just went a bit mental.

If you call NHS direct they will simply advise you to take him to casualty or doctor. If still producing urine then ok but if v. v. little or none for ages then take him to casualty. They will bung him on a drip for a while if seems dehydrated until he stabilises.

little and often, if necessary spoon the liquid in (dioralyte) - get him to suck an ice lolly etc.

if in doubt, get him checked out asap

cupcakes · 19/04/2006 20:31

You have to speak to a doctor asap. Don't panic though - he'l most prob be fine but may well need a drip or rehydrating fluids.

Hope your little fella feels better soon.
IMO I've always found NHS D v. helpful

schneebly · 19/04/2006 23:24

nhs helpline told us to go to a and e and they gave him dioralyte and he had still kept it down after 1 hour so sent us home - just to give 15-20 ml fluids at a time and hope it stays down! thanks foe earlier!

I think it's already been mentioned but fruity ice lollies are fab. Even if you just put some squash in a small cup & froze it, or ice cubes might be more handy.
