If I have a prolapse would a doctor have noticed it when doing a smear? Think I have one but have had a few smears since having ds( a few ...due to abnormal results )

Possibly, but not necessarily. Typically you are flat on your back when you have a smear and in this position a prolapse may not be as noticeable as it 'falls back' IYSWIM. So if you're not actively looking for it, depending on how bad the prolapse is, it would be possible to miss it.

Again as cardamomginger says not necessarily due to the laying down position. I knew I had one and so went to my GP and told her. She was a bit surprised but examined me and confirmed that is what I had. Please do go and get it seen to - even if its quite minor there are things that can be done to make things easier for you.

I'd still go anyway, even if you are TTC. But don't tell the GP you are in case they make the decision not to refer you. If GP can't find anything, but you notice it, e.g. when you are standing up, then gett eh GP to examine you in that position. My gynae always examines me standing up too. Get referred to a specialist gynae (MUST be specialist in pelvic floor and prolapse repairs) and see what they have to say. Depending on what's going on, some input might be useful before you get pregnant in terms of what may or may not be advisable in terms of birth options. Even if you do decide to delay any treatment (should treatment be necessary) until after you've had this baby. Good luck with it all - TTC and the prolapse.

They might have noticed it but not mentioned it as it's so common!
