best foods to eat after vomitting

dd2 has yet another vomitting bug. She's wiped out. What can I offer her when she's ready to eat, I know dry toast is the obvious one but she doesn't like bread at the best of times. Loves all the wrong stuff like dairy products. Any suggestions?

BAD mummy alert!!! If you just wnat to get some energy into her then flat lemonade works for my DS

schneebly · 19/04/2006 18:06

I was told my a doctor that flat coke is great for settling a childs stomach! Shock

jalopy · 19/04/2006 18:07

Schneebly, flat coke is great for this problem.

bizzi · 19/04/2006 18:09

Thankyou DSS (groovey initials!) and Alison, as for the coke and lemonade I can believe that, sort out the electrolytes or something, she'll only drink water though. Amazing how the brain frazzles when deprived of sleep. ManicSmile

toast, preferably cold, and milk.

jalopy · 19/04/2006 18:25

Ice lolly?

PeachyClair · 19/04/2006 18:35

IME (wide, as I had hyperemesis) oranges and chocolate cake still taste the same on their way back up so recommend those. cheese and meat are awful in that respect. otherwise melon, ice pops, anything with a high water content really.

SaintGeorge · 19/04/2006 18:36

Clear, broth type soup. Chicken noodle is great.

bizzi · 19/04/2006 21:35

Thankyou all, she fell asleep dreaming of all the wonderful things she's going to have tomorrow, chocolate mousse on toast was top of the list! Poor deluded soul. She's such a foodie it makes it all the more worse when she can't eat.
These are all great ideas I look forward to feeding her up, she's now been over 48 hours without. Sad

My dd has an awful stomache bug at the moment too. Yesterday she ate absolutely nothing but managed to keep down some fluids. Today she had half a peice of toast this morning and 3 rice cakes at tea time.
Hope she's better tomorrowSmile

bizzi · 19/04/2006 21:41

Hope yours is too, Angeliz.

for me i eat mcvities digestives just nibbling and half cup milk, works for me and ds not for dd though i have to starve her for 2days or she is violently sick, nothing except water for dd, i know when dd is feeling better as she asks for a nana (banana)

kidsrus · 19/04/2006 21:59

when i had s&d the doctor told me to have grated apple i was reluctant to try but it was the nicest juciyiest apple i have ever eaten! and it worked a treat too.Grin

cheeseypeas · 19/04/2006 22:50

Cooked pasta shapes with not allot on. Maybe a tiny bit of butter.

  • Carbs = energy, water in pasta = rehydration.

Also, she can 'pick' at them at her own pace.

bizzi · 20/04/2006 09:51

Thanks again all of you! We had yet another vommy night, she's now really fed up and exhausted (me too!!).
Saw GP yesterday (only because this is her third bout of D&V in the last 4 months that the rest of us haven't caught from her, seemed odd to me but not to him.)Anyway, GP said they'd admit her if she's no better by Friday Sad
I so hope she begins to improve.
