Would you pluck hair out of a mole?

Not a wee little underground beastie - that's just cruel.

I have a hairy mole and have been trimming the hairs short since I was under the belief that plucking them would cause the mole to mutate...

I found \link{http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/cancer/202728.html\this} and now am wondering if I dare to pluck them.

Does anyone else pluck them???

Yep, one really annoying one on my chin.

DH calls it my witchy mole, can't blame him really Grin

I pluck it whenever it becomes visible enough.

cod · 19/04/2006 17:47

lol at underground beastie

JackieNo · 19/04/2006 18:17

I do - have had one on my face for ever, and trimmed it for years, but have recently (last couple of months) started plucking the hairs (oh yes, not just the oneShock). V satisfying, in a gruesome kind of way.

Albert · 19/04/2006 18:22

Yes, have been doing so for years and the mole has not changed in the least!

lucy5 · 19/04/2006 18:24

I do too!

Spagblog · 19/04/2006 18:51

I might just have to swallow my irrational fear and get the tweezers out.

Hairy moles are just minging aren't they

I do.

blueteddy · 19/04/2006 19:13

I do too

AllieBongo · 19/04/2006 19:14

i used to til i had it removed! all moles should be spliced!

FrannyandZooey · 19/04/2006 19:16

I have had an irrational fear of plucking too, so I trim. My worst one is in a place I can't reach (back of arm before your imaginations go mad) so dp has to do it for me Shock

NomDePlume · 19/04/2006 19:16

Gross, but yes if I had a hirsute mole then I'd pluck it.

Greensleeves · 19/04/2006 19:17

If I could catch the little bugger I'd pull 'em all out and good riddance to 'im

They'm dug up all my beans agin Angry

gingernut · 19/04/2006 20:21

I pluck and have done for years with no obvious effects (except that it grows back a bit slower now (yay!)).

Sorry to be so gross NdP! Grin.

Flamesparrow · 19/04/2006 20:25

Pluck. I have one on my cheek that I've had to pluck for years with no ill effects. I am always slightly scared at just how far it seems to go in - I get a mammoth hair out! Grin

Pixel · 19/04/2006 23:16

Phew! I was a bit worried when I saw this thread title as I've got several hairy moles I've been plucking for years and thought you were all going to be saying "No! Don't do it!"

handlemecarefully · 19/04/2006 23:22

Does anybody else feel like adding the rider:

"I may have a hairy mole or two but despite this I am average attractively" ?

Yes, I do pluck...

Clary · 19/04/2006 23:26

lol hmc! (and franny too)

I have one on my cheek that I pluck (mmm, attractive) and like flamesparrow it's always scarily long.
Does anyone else find they seem to grow suddenly? Like one day it's not there, the next it's half a centimetre long?

(hmm, only on MN this convo!)

Flamesparrow · 20/04/2006 10:05

Yes! Then I'm paranoid that its been this monster hair for weeks and I just hadn't noticed Blush

Normsnockers · 20/04/2006 10:11

Yes Clary !

I'm sure there was nothing there yesterday and then today I think "My God, how did that get that long before I spotted it !"

kittyb · 20/04/2006 10:45

yes I pluck. I think it does make the hair grow back thicker - I dont pluck the fine normal skin hair, just the one thick black one...nice. It is very satisfying.

AllieBongo I would love my mole removed - its on my cheek - but always thought a scar might be worse. Were you left with a scar?

SofiaAmes · 21/04/2006 06:06

No...paranoid about irritating the mole into being skin cancer. Absolutely no scientific evidence to support this theory...but...there you go. I have a mole on my chin that produces one hair. I always always cut it and never pluck. Luckily I have my children to remind me when it's getting a bit long "mummy, why do you have that long hair sticking out of your chin..?"
