Is anyone else exhausted to the point of dropping after a day at work?

I'm a teacher, and am on my feet from about 8:15 to 4:30/5. Every day I feel like I have walked a thousand miles, and my head is ringing from constant noise and demands.

I often feel too exhausted to move......but feel fine on days I don't work. I really don't know what to do. I feel too tired to cook tea or do anything when I get in. I do start to recover about 7:00pm, but just wondered if anyone else felt like this?

I do, and often nap/fall asleep after work at 4.15pm Blush
But then I'm constantly tired and can sleep for 14hrs a night. GP says nothing wrong

Yes!
We had a training day on Monday and I felt great when I got home as we sat around all day. I teach home ec and its really physical.
I make 2 or 3 meals on a Sunday so as soon as we get in I rest and kids play / chat / tv etc to revive myself.
I do have some days where all I do is make the meal and that's it!

I teach dt too. It is so demanding, I never ever sit down in class ever. Then they are in at dinner time....not just me then. Problem is I can't just flop when I get in as dd is always so hungry, I have to start straight away.

I can totally understand why you would be tired from work, but I would also suggest it's worth getting a blood test done to check you are not anaemic. Your GP can do it and you might just need some iron supplements to give you a bit of a lift then. I developed anaemia which became quite serious through it not being treated so it is worth making sure.

However, the feeling of exhaustion straight after work but that you recover from (to some extent) later on is one I have also had. When I worked in retail I felt like this from 6 till around 9-10pm and would then start to perk up, What time do you go to bed during the week? Do you think you get enough sleep?

Me too but I do have a parathyroid problem. Just get a blood test. I'm incapable of movement tonight

Reports, marking etc all stacking up ...... Feeling dreadful too after getting chest infection then whopping cough.... Got to go back to GP all won't make the half term!

I am only a TA, I work from 8.40 until 3.00 at school. I also have two school age dc.
I am exhausted in the afternoons, have been known to have a little nap on the sofa in the afternoons Blush

Woke up this morning and went through the breakfast routine practically in tears as I was already so tired and it is only two days into term...
(had flu type virus all over Christmas holiday so practically had no break at all, so feel cheated though)

Try high doses of a good quality vitamin D3 supplement. Preferably in gel cap form. At least 5000IU a day.

Rhodiola Rosea is also very good.
