Quick question - When to go to A&E?

There was an article in the local paper this weekend about not going to A&E with non urgent things due to pressures from norovirus etc. Trouble is, it wasn't clear what sort of things you could go to a walk in centre with. Common one is our house is needing head glue. Would you A&E for that, or not?

Yes I would definitely go for that.

How commonly do you need heads glueing in your house, OP?

HDee · 08/01/2013 14:37

For what it's worth, I never go to A&E if it can be dealt with elsewhere, ie GP or dentist.

I have six children and we have been once for severe wheezing in a baby, ummmm struggling to think if I have ever been apart from that tbh.

Thanks, nice.
HDee - probably about once a year. Two DC who like climbing/running/jumping etc. They always seem to land on their heads lol!

I'd always go to minor injuries for a cut that needed glueing tbh

Our local A&E (Stoke Mandeville) says that all head injuries in a child should go to A&E, head injuries in an adult without loss of consciousness should go to the minor injuries unit at one of the local hospitals.

Anything likely to need an x-ray, unless you have a minor injuries unit instead.
