Hiya,

I posted a message on here a while back about my dd. She is 2 1/2 and has been quite clumsy for months. Always walking into things and falling over. I rang and asked my HV for an appointment for a hearing test as I have a history of ear problems and thought she might be suffering too.
I still haven't recieved the appointment yet, but we took her to the doctor today after a week of her being extra clumsy.
Her eardrum has perforated. The thing is that other then being a little bit whingy she has made no fuss. If it wasn't for the clumsyness I wouldn't have known, we have been taking her swimming and taking her out without a hat.

The doctors have always insisted that the type of ear problems that I have suffered from are not heriditory. However, A lot of people in my family have suffered with exactly the same problems. I had grommets in until I was 10, was always ill with infections etc.

I'm just a little bit concerned that dd is going the same way. Her vocablary is actually very good for her age, but she does tend to talk through her nose. Just wandered if anyone else had any similer experience with their children?
Thanx

doesn't sound as bad as yours but my ds had repeated ear infections, usually resulting in perforated ear drum (often 1st sign).

No idea about hereditory nature - I don't suffer from ear probs. Not sure about dh as child.

At young age (under 2) ds had adenoid removed (grommets not favoured here) and ear situation improved dramatically. Now only 1 or 2 infectiona a year instead of monthly
