I managed to fall down the stairs a couple of days ago and I've really hurt my bottom (dh says it's ample enough it should have cushioned me Angry) I can hardly sit down and finding it very difficult to lift ds2 (8mo) sit to bf him, get down/up from floor to play/ change nappy etc. Tried to drive yesterday and too painful Sad. Can just about walk very slowly with the buggy so can take ds1 to/from nursery. Dh is ill with a bug so he can't help with the dc as last thing I need is us all catching it as well.

Went to gp this morning who said I've clearly injured my coccyx and may be fractured but nothing can be done other than manage the pain and try not to do too much.

So does anyone have any practical tips on what I can do? What helps this type of pain? How do I look after dc without causing further injury?

Did you slide down the stairs, or bump, bump,? (which I did years ago, but was OK)
A friend of mine did that, but thought she was OK, but then the back of her thighs began to hurt, and she was diagnosed with pulled ham strings?

Sort of slid and went bump, feet slipped from under me. Pain is definitely in my coccyx and some around my lower back where I have residual SPD pain. I can hear/feel the bones vibrating/rubbing against each other while I'm sitting down Confused

I wish it was just pulled hamstrings but pain is in totally the wrong place so don't think it can be.

Oh cassell, you really have many sympathy... I fractured my coccyx two years ago and it was agony.. Get some super strength painkillers, and invest in a coccyx cushion (shaped a bit like a horseshoe, so no pressure on the base of your spine). And try to avoid sitting for long periods... I found heat helped too, so try a wheat bag or something similar... I ended up having two lots of steroid injections after about 6 months, which did help, followed by some physio... Good luck...!
