Complex medical negligence claims - recommendations needed!

Wasn't sure where to put this one but settled for "General Health" (even though it has come up a few times)

In a nutshell, I wanted to ask whether anyone has used any decent firms and specialists in medical negligence claims and if so, whether they could recommend anyone?

Incredibly long story but my Dad died from cancer last month after the most appalling care imaginable. I've worked with elderly / palliative care patients for years and trust me - the care he received from our local NHS trust was pisspoor beyond belief. After investigation and various tests because he was struggling to open his bowels and in severe pain when he tried etc, (he'd been scanned, tested and had more blood and pee floating around in little jars than soft Mick) they diagnosed spondylitis. Dad's exact words were "Well at least I know I've not got cancer" Sad

Four months later (and after incredible pain that caused him to throw up most days) a simple X-Ray discovered a tumour in Dad's bowel. Over the next twelve months, his care was so bad I can't possibly get it down here. He suffered enormously, needlessly and was constantly overlooked and neglected from start to finish.

His wife is bereft having lost a husband for the second time in her life (first husband died when she was 40 and she's now widowed again aged 65) and she barely has a pot to piss in, let alone money to start an immense legal battle against the NHS.

Anyone have experience in complex medical negligence claims and better still - anyone able to recommend a decent firm?

I've worked in nursing for many years and prior to that was a legal secretary for firms that dealt with general litigation (only on a much smaller scale) so know the ins and outs of both.

This isn't a shouty-knee jerk reaction to Dad dying as often happens to recently bereaved folk.

Yes Im pissed - but with just cause. Angry

Many thanks in advance! Smile

Sorry, pressed send before I meant to. I meant to add I am sorry for your loss and hope the above are of help I know their clin neg team is one of the best nationally.

Where are you? I know a good firm where I am but no good to you if you're the other end of the country. Sorry for your loss - it all sounds horrendous

Sorry for your loss, it's heartbreaking.

I would suggest Irwin Mitchell. Very good solicitors that have dealt with a lot of medical negligence cases (don't work for them btw!).

Good luck.

No advice but just wanted to say I am sorry, just a terrible story. I really feel for you.

No recommendations but just wanted to sympathise. My Dad, like yours, suffered several months of severe and worsening back pain, inadequate pain relief and an unnecessary op before they diagnosed his tumour. Some aspects of his care from there on were excellent but some appalling.

I hope you get some satisfaction from however things work out for you.
