....

Any tips? I've them since DS1 was born 4 years ago. They go through good and bad stages. Haven't worked out how to deal with them at all. Very uncomfortable and embarrassing and annoying. :(

have you tried germoloids supposotries and cream, the supposotries treat internal piles, cream external ones, i have always found them very effective, also try not to get constipated, avoid standing for long periods of time.

gardenia · 17/04/2006 17:07

no too embarrassed to buy it spacey... I am a closet sufferer :(

could you get dh to buy it for you?
other remedy is sit on an ice pack, that helped me enourmously when i was preg.

gardenia · 17/04/2006 17:10

Shock at dh!
theres nothing to be embarrassed about as thery are just varicose veins, could you ask your gp to prescribe some treatment, which will avoid the embarrassment of walking round boots with germoloids.

foxinsocks · 17/04/2006 17:15

oh gardenia - don't be embarrassed!! Have your kids not had worms or scabies yet? Your piles will suddenly become easy to talk about once you've had parasites!

Try and go into the chemist at a quiet time and speak to the pharmacist. If you are embarrassed, ask to speak to them to one side (i.e. not in front of other people). Those cream that spacey talks about are lifesavers!

gardenia · 17/04/2006 17:15

GP? no way. He is a dinosaur. Went to him about something else 'personal' and he didn't want to know. WIll have to drive to the next town to buy some Blush

sprinkle bran on porridge for breakfast and take Fybogel (I get mine on prescription) Get yourself referred for treatment. It isn't too bad. Uncomfortable rather than painful and over with very quickly...

spacecadet · 17/04/2006 17:35

if you suffer regularly from constipation, i would reccommend asking for lactulose on prescription.

jalopy · 17/04/2006 17:38

Gardenia, remind yourself on your next visit to the chemist that pharmacists can have piles too!Grin

bubblerock · 17/04/2006 18:04

You can buy stuff like this on \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ANUSOL-Haemorrhoid-Piles-CREAM-BIN-3-70-FREE-1st-P_W0QQitemZ9509156601QQcategoryZ75040QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\Ebay} if you're very embarrassed by it. We got condoms from Ebay but only because we were too lazy to go to the FPC and wouldn't pay chemist prices! Grin

poi · 17/04/2006 19:21

Theres an online pharamcy called pharmacy2u (i think), I'm sure could order supposotries from there, plus lactulose, It's worth it, honestly. :) Or change your GP xx

Milliways · 17/04/2006 21:56

Please see your GP. My friend developed piles in pregnancy& suffered silently. Her DS is now 10, they got worse, saw GP who couldn't believe she had left it so long. She has now had them operated on & said it was worse than childbirth! Had 2 weeks of work but making full recovery.

JoolsToo · 17/04/2006 21:59

are you constipated? - get some linseeds from Holland & Barrett - they'll change your life!

ntt · 17/04/2006 22:05

just add them to your next on line grocery order and pretend to yourself you're getting them for an elderly housebound relative Grin Don't ignore them though, they'll just get worse.

gardenia · 18/04/2006 19:15

Thanks I'll try to be brave and buy some cream.............

HOT bath with tea tree and lavender and push them back in Sorry if TMI

franke · 18/04/2006 19:21

Margarine. Seriously, I had piles at the end of pregnancy and my midwife suggested this - flora or something. Just keep a pot in the bathroom and wipe it on with loo paper when you've been to the loo. Worked for me, honest. Also clench your buttocks every so often - gets the blood flowing to the area and helps the healing process.

bubblerock · 19/04/2006 13:00

Gardenia - just go into the chemist and say that your husband is really suffering with piles and could they recommend something as he is such a wuss he won't come in himself Grin

leece · 19/04/2006 13:25

Go for Anusol plus it works wonders on the ole farmers. Well so my friend told me anyway.

naswm · 19/04/2006 15:26

I've never been to the GP about my piles as I am worried he will say it is becuase I am overweight Blush. Think I'll have to check out that online pharmacy too
