if you have awful hayfever, is it anymore awful in the country than in the town/city?

i find the only place i get relief from it is near the sea.... luckily i live less than a mile from the sea and where i work the garden backs onto the sea

i think it depends exactly what pollens you are allergic too.... my old family had a farm right in the middle of the welsh country side and i barely suffered at all their, while if certain plants are around garden in towns / cities then i relaly suffer

It all depends on what your allergies are, unfortunately for me everything sets my hayfever off, had an allergy test a few years back and my whole arm went red!

NannyL - lucky you, I've lived near beach all my life, but I still suffer.

Same here, recommend prevention rather than cure, start the tablets and keep taking them rather than take one when you need it as it's too late then. Would also recommend nose sprays and eye drops (if you don't wear lenses). Wear sunglasses.

considering moving from a little town into a house in the country but am worried it might be a terrible move for ds who has the worst hayfever i've ever known.
what do you think?

Personally i think country is worse. I grew up by the sea and never had hayfever until I moved to North Yorkshire aged 19. I'm close to the Dales and suffer every summer terribly.

We all get it badly except DD, we are surrounded by farm land after moving from suburbia 2 years ago. Don't think it's got any worse and it's only for a month. When I was younger my Mum put sheets over my windows so they stayed open but the pollen couldn't get in. Don't know how she did it but one of those posh staplers would do it.

Don't let him roll in mown grass either as that makes me much worse and even sitting in grass in hay fever season makes me bad. Also recommend plenty of hand and face washing after playing out.
